How to meet people nearby, tonight

pullup shows who is around you right now — within 500 metres — and gets you from “who's out?” to actually meeting in a few taps. Here is the whole workflow, plus the questions people ask most.

1. Sign up and confirm you're 18+

Create an account with your email and confirm it. pullup is 18+ only. You pick a display name and an avatar — there are no bios, so nobody has to write a profile.

2. Turn your radar on

Swipe up to pull up. iOS will ask for location the first time; the radar only works while it's on. When it's off you're not on the map at all, and the map goes dark. Your coordinates are fuzzed before anyone else sees them.

3. Pick your vibe

Rotate the wheel to say what you're up for: Drinks, Café, Love, Party, Sport, Club. People nearby see your vibe as a bubble on the map, which does the icebreaking for you.

4. Send a chat request

Tap someone on the map to open their card, then send a chat request. Nobody can message you until you accept — that's the whole point. You can have several chats going at once, and you can block or report anyone from the chat.

5. Share a beacon and pull up

Inside a chat you can send a beacon: your live spot, visible to that one person, for 30 minutes. It moves with you and you can cancel it at any time from the beacon icon in the top bar. Then just pull up.

Questions people actually ask

Can people see exactly where I am?

No. Your position is fuzzed and truncated before it's shared, so others see roughly where you are, not your doorstep. The one exception is a beacon, which you send deliberately to one person for 30 minutes and can cancel.

Can someone message me out of nowhere?

No. Messaging requires a chat request you accepted.

What happens when I turn the radar off?

You disappear from other people's maps. Location history is deleted after 24 hours regardless.

How long do messages stick around?

Read messages are removed after 30 minutes, unread ones after 24 hours. pullup is built for tonight, not for an archive.

Is this a dating app?

No — there's no matching, swiping or pairing. There is a Love vibe if that's what you're after, but the app itself is about who's around, not about romance.

Nobody shows up on my map. Why?

Most likely nobody else has the radar on within 500 metres. pullup depends on density — it works best in a busy area at a busy hour. See the alternatives page for when another app is a better fit.
